Music is LIFE

Born in Nevada to a buckeroo and a ranch cook descended from Wyoming homesteaders and ranchers, I have lived my life a true son of The American West. I have resided in almost every Western state, calling Utah home for the past few decades. As a musician and singer from an early age, performing opportunities were relished and heartily pursued but not lucrative enough to support a family, so I played when I could've and worked when I should've. Mostly. Almost sounds like a John Denver favorite, huh? Well, "Thank God I'm A Country Boy!"

After retiring from 30 years in Public Safety, I decided to spend more time making music and started to record, and play more live venues. Even though the challenges of the year 2020 brought heartache, it also provided me the time to complete two albums and finish writing a few of my own songs. You will be able to find those here on my website.

Why do I Bother?

From my earliest memories music has always been a powerful force in my life. The ever-present tool to cope with the events of the day. Tunes and lyrics heard from a broad variety of instruments and voices provide the means for emotional expression craved by my mortal mind and eternal spirit.  The sound of my mother's kitchen radio tuned-in to the Country station was the morning "alarm clock" of my early youth and it primed my ears for the precious and too infrequent live music sessions enjoyed at home with my family.  By the time I was in high school my musical tastes had grown ever more broad and varied as I seized every opportunity to try something new.  As a musician in my early 20's, music had taken me half way around the world and helped me make friends I would otherwise never have met. Music continues to bless me in all those ways and more.

Fast-forward through the decades and all the common elements of joy, misery, exuberance and melancholy that comes with the trials of life, MUSIC still reigns as the ultimate salve, elixir, antiseptic, massage therapist, pressure bandage, hug-and-a-kiss, tourniquet and top-shelf-cocktail-at-the-end-of-the-day for my heart and soul!

I hope my humble tributes to my favorite musical wizards and my own genuine attempts to harness aural alchemy to concoct a song or two worth hearing helps my friends and family to celebrate, mourn, laugh, cry, dance or simply enjoy the moment.  And if this little effort of mine helps someone be motivated or somehow inspired to achieve a dream, then all the better.  Because, truly, if I can do it anybody can!

Remember, "MUSIC WASHES AWAY FROM THE SOUL THE DUST OF EVERYDAY LIFE." - (Berthold Auerbach, 1812-1882.) ~As told to me by Rosemary Forster.

Back On The Rails and Gunfighters, Cowboys & Outlaws, are the first two full-length albums I have released and we have some nice T-shirts and coffee mugs featuring the album covers available for sale. As you check out my music, pictures and stories, please consider buying a title or two and be sure to sign up for email bulletins from me regarding future music and performances. I will never share your information with anyone else.

Be watching for some of my new recordings of Irish and Scottish folk songs and tunes very soon!

THANK YOU!!!
